Craggan is a well maintained 9-hole par 3 course in a beautiful setting beside the River Spey, & with views to the Cromdale Hills & Cairngorms. It is designed to suit all standards of golfer, from the complete beginner, to the acomplished low handicapper who wants to sharpen up their short game, & younger & older players for which a full length course can be something of a trial.
The course varies from five holes in the 111 to 132 yard range, through three in the 148 to 162 range, up to the 5th hole Gaich, the longest on the course at 209 yards, with a fairway rising around 40 feet to a hilltop green. Total length for 9 holes is 1,269 yards. The greens are all of excellent quality, being cut daily during the season, and we take great pride in producing the best possible putting surfaces. There are a few ‘inviting’ water hazards on the course, which surrounds a trout fishery, where osprey can often be seen looking for a meal. You may also see roe deer and hares on the course,up to six different species of wild duck, and many other birds.
Our green fees for 2017 are excellent value at £12 for 9 holes, £17.50 for 18 holes, & £20 for a day ticket for adults; & £9, £12 & £15 respectively for under 16s. Half-sets of clubs are available for hire at £8 each, & we have a small selection of tees, balls, markers, divot repairers & the like for sale in the Clubhouse. Golf is a ‘pay & play’ activity, so no bookings required / taken…..just come along, pay your money (cash only), & off you go.
We welcome all visitors, particularly children and families. Nine holes can take as little as an hour, and even with young children it won’t take more than a pleasant morning or afternoon. We operate a ‘pay and play’ system which means that it is not necessary to book a tee time, but there are occasional competitions through the summer, so it can be worth checking ahead to ensure that your intended visit doesn’t correspond with the course being closed for a competition.
We also offer an excellent 9 hole putting green. This is particularly popular with families, and even very young children can be part of the fun. Rates are great value at £4 for adults and £2 for under-16’s. This for up to an hour on the green, & includes a ball & putter.
During the winter period of November to March, the course remains open subject to no frost / snow on the greens, with green fees reduced to £10 for adults & £5 for under 16s. Please note that payments for golf are cash only.
Expect a warm welcome in our licensed Clubhouse Cafe, which is generally open daily, 10am to 6pm, from April to the end of October. Choose from a range of freshly prepared food, or just relax with a freshly brewed pot of tea or mug of Douwe Egberts coffee, or of course something stronger. The Clubhouse Cafe is also available for hire for functions and events, with further details being available on that page of this website. We also welcome group bookings for golf and/or catering, with discounted group rates being available if paid in advance. The course is also ideal for corporate and charity days.
