For those that are seeking the thrills of rafting a series of grade 3 to 4, sometimes 5, rapids, then our day trips on the River Findhorn - the UK's best white water rafting river - are the thing for you! The Findhorn is one of Scotland's last wild rivers, meaning that it has an entirely natural water flow - as opposed to dam releases on a number of other rivers used for rafting - and as such offers an entirely natural, authentic, dramatic and exciting experience from a raft, particularly after heavy rain or snow-melt. The choice of three different sections to raft means that a good experience, or in the very best conditions an exceptional and world-class experience, can be had at most times of the year.
The Findhorn trips are suited to anybody over the age of 13 with a reasonable degree of fitness. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets are provided, along of course with rafts, paddles and all instruction. Pricing is from £80 per person upwards depending upon the number of participants, with minimum group size being six, and a maximum of 32 participants. Please note that your own transport will be required for this activity which begins and ends at a site 25-30 minutes drive from Craggan Outdoors main location. It is also possible to book either a packed lunch or a BBQ as part of your rafting experience.
Please note that if water levels are deemed to be too low for a good experience, which can happen during peak summer or after prolonged dry periods, then your group will either be offered a credit to return at a later date when conditions are better, or if that is not an option for you, then your group will instead be taken on an equally exciting canyoning trip where you will experience big water slides and awesome jumps
as the group descends a steep sided gorge, sliding down the naturally smoothed rock features. Swim under and below waterfalls, take on the massive 12m+ near vertical rock slide and descend the natural water flumes. This canyoning trip is different from the standard gorge walking sessions that we offer, as the full day available from having booked white water rafting means that travel to a more distant venue, 45 minutes south of Aviemore, is possible. Please note that as with the rafting trip, your own transport will be required. The canyoning offers equal measures of excitement and fun as the rafting trip, so whatever the prevailing weather conditions, you can be sure of a fantastic experience.
